“Jurassic Lake” is considered to be among the greatest wild rainbow trout fisheries in the world. An ancient volcanic crater lake located on a wild plateau in a truly remote part of Argentine Patagonia, it’s location can best be described as Primal!
Jurassic Lake is extremely fertile producing massive amounts of protein packed freshwater shrimp (scuds) resulting in massive rainbow trout that average 10 pounds and are regularly caught up to 20 pounds or more on flies!
The shallow lake edges and bays of Jurassic Lake provide excellent sight-fishing opportunities to enormous rainbows, huge pods of giant fish can often be see cruising the shoreline, and the Rio Barracoso offers some unbelievable small stream fishing for huge fish!
The Solid Jurassic River Lodge is strategically located near the mouth of the Rio Barracoso, the lakes only spawning tributary. This former Loop camp has been in operation since 2007, and the lodge has been recently upgraded with modern amenities. Enjoy warm showers, heaters in every room, an updated kitchen and comfortable after-fishing lounge in the remote wilds of Patagonia!
This trip will be hosted by Primal Angler founder Ryan Davey, who was one of the founding partners of the Angling Exploration Group and helped produce the Trout Bum Diaries series as well as started the Fly Fishing Film Tour. Ryan has extensive experience in guiding and hosting angling adventures world-wide, and specializes in documenting these adventures through high quality video and photographic media. He visited Jurassic Lake on an exploratory trip in 2007 and is eager to return in 2013 to document some of the best wild rainbow fishing in the world!
