Primal Angler’s Winter Steelhead Basecamp has officially been established! For the next few months I’ll be Guiding Fishing Adventures for Winter Steelhead in SW Washington, the Olympic Peninsula, and NW Oregon. While the Basecamp’s exact location will remain undisclosed to protect innocent steelhead, suffice it to say that it is very remote, cell phones don’t work, and there are steelhead swimming past the back door as I write this!
Two long-time fishing buddies of mine, Derek Sater and Andy Perrault, joined me to help break in the new Basecamp and spend a few days hunting winter steelhead. And break it in we did with the unmistakable stench of stale sweat, dirty socks, and musty waders. Props to them for putting up with no heat for a couple days (brutal) or any communication with the outside world! I’m sure they would agree that it was well worth it!
Admittedly I was still in the process of getting settled in, having just moved in the day they arrived. But we did manage to find a few fish, despite low flows and without the help of the internet and all it’s magic (satellite maps, river flows, weather forecasts, fishing reports, forums, friends, etc.) Photos and video of our adventure are soon to come, so stay tuned!
Join me this winter / spring for a Guided Steelhead Adventure! Book now!
